YUKON FRANCOPHONE SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION

Nominations closed on October 24, 2019 at 12 noon, for the Yukon Francophone School Board Election for School Board Trustees.

A total of 6 nominations were received for 5 positions, 6 candidates are on the ballot. Voting will take place on Monday, November 4, 2019 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at École Émilie Tremblay at 20 Falcon Drive. Members will serve a three-year term.

School Board Role: The Yukon Francophone School Board is governed by a Board of Trustees. They are responsible for the administration, policies and operation of the three French language schools which are under their jurisdiction. Their mission is to lead the development of quality education programs that foster the full potential of their students and their engagement as citizens.

Polling Day: Will be held on Monday, November 4 from 3 to 8 p.m. at École Émilie-Tremblay (20 Falcon Drive).

Mail In Ballot: If you are an eligible elector who will be unable to vote on polling day, the Education Act allows mail in ballots under certain situations. These include infirmity, hospitalization, absence from the education area, confinement to a correctional center, hours of employment, or appointment as a deputy returning officer or poll clerk. Application must be made, and completed ballots returned, to the returning officer before the close of the polls on polling day.

Eligibility as Electors: To vote in a Yukon Francophone School Board election, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old and have French Language rights under Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. You must also have lived in the Yukon for at least three months before polling day or be a parent of a child attending the schools.
